Walsh Legal Group

Employment. Work. Legacy.

At Walsh Legal Group, we are employment lawyers who believe legal advice should be more than just technically correct, it should be commercially sound, genuinely practical, and tailored to the real world in which your business operates.

Our employment law firm was created to bridge the gap between black-letter law and real business decision-making. We work closely with business owners, senior managers, and professional advisors to provide trusted legal guidance and hands-on support to resolve employment law issues.

Whether you’re navigating complex workplace disputes and Fair Work claims, managing performance, contemplating sacking an employee, conducting a consultation process for a proposed redundancy, or restructuring your business for growth and succession, our approach is always strategic, personable, and results-driven.

Walsh Legal Group is a national employment law firm working with Clients all over Australia, and we’re committed to making quality legal services accessible, responsive, and genuinely collaborative.

Let’s get to work – together.

Meet our Managing Principal

With over 15 years in legal practice and senior management experience, Margherite brings a rare combination of legal precision and commercial pragmatism to the table. Margherite maintains a specialist focus on employment law and pairs deep technical expertise with an instinctive understanding of what actually works for businesses and individuals, not just in theory, but on the ground.

Admitted to the Legal Profession in 2010 and holding a Master of Laws from the University of Melbourne (specialising in employment law), Margherite has worked with a wide range of industries, from professional services (including medical, veterinary, legal, recruitment and accounting), to agricultural and family-run enterprises, to high-net-worth individuals managing intergenerational wealth. Her advice is direct, no-nonsense, and grounded in reality. If there’s a practical issue standing in the way of her client’s success, she’ll call it out, whether it sits neatly within the legal remit or not.

Margherite has established Walsh Legal Group as a specialist employment law firm and she’s driven by a desire to reshape how legal services are delivered: fusing expert advice with hands-on support and training that equips businesses to make informed, strategic decisions.

Clients consistently praise her responsiveness, empathy, and willingness to ask the hard questions, especially in sensitive situations. She doesn’t shy away from the uncomfortable conversations, and her honest, human approach builds the kind of trust that turns first-time clients into long-term trusted relationships.

When she’s not advising clients, she’s running a different kind of operation – life with four young children, a household full of dance shoes, swim bags, music rehearsals, fun and bedtime stories, shared with her husband and biggest supporter. Powered not by caffeine but by chocolate, Margherite is known to clients and friends alike as fun, happy, and fiercely loyal.

She is a full member of the Queensland Law Society and welcomes opportunities for industry connection across Australia to support businesses in achieving success.

Working Together

Every employment law client and workplace dispute is different, but what doesn’t change is the way we work with you. Our approach to providing employment law advice is straightforward, collaborative, and outcomes-focused. We keep things clear and practical, so you always know what’s next.

Consultation

We start with a conversation. Whether it’s a quick call or a detailed meeting, we take the time to understand you and what you’re trying to achieve, so we can tailor our legal advice to support your goals. With years of experience advising on complex HR issues and workplace disputes, we’re well-versed in the nuances of challenging employment law matters.

Strategize

Once we understand the problem, we develop a plan that fits your business and your objectives. Our employment law advice is commercial, clear, and grounded in real-world experience, not just legal theory. We’ll help you weigh up your options and make confident, informed decisions.

Take Action

With a clear strategy in place, we roll up our sleeves and get to work. Whether that involves drafting contracts and policies, resolving employee issues, advising on termination or performance management processes, negotiating settlements, or representing you in the Fair Work Commission or Court, we act with focus and determination to protect your interests and achieve commercial outcomes for you.
